An unhappy person doesn't,
cannot create happy teams
remember, the person who matters most
for your happiness, is yourself!
Reasons for happiness at work
vary from person to person
but one thing that is common
which everyone wants is 'Growth'!
a Buddhist definition for 'happiness' is
the joy of reaching your potential !
Fun can be of two types- 'Challenging fun'
and 'Adulterated fun'
while running a kilometre or two
writing a blog is challenging fun
adulterated fun is like
"watched Netflix back to back"
adulterated fun makes you feel guilty
while challenging fun- Happy!
You can be assured you have
"Delight conditions" at work
when you feel good about co-workers
you complete 70% of "To do list"
manager provides achievable challenging work
and the support for achieving them!
It's a company with a purpose that fires passion
passion is what you would do
if money was not an issue
what you would continue to do, even when
you have a choice to do nothing!
Happy people are successful people
unhappy people, even if not leaving you
do not contribute to company
after all, they are not happy!
Look up the "Daniel Pink Study"
it reiterates what we discussed so far
for happiness and motivation
autonomy, mastery and purpose
score over all other incentives!

ReplyDeleteHmmm, am having to think on this for the reason that in English, 'adulterated' means lesser, or diluted, not pure or genuine... the usual idiom is 'unadulterated', meaning enjoyed without reserve.
I appreciate that 'challenging fun' is the sort in which we give ourselves a goal, but it is still very much being done for fun - such as the hill-walking, wild-swimming, jogging...
The binge-watching would simply be phrased as 'indulgent fun' if there is a spin of guilt to be induced by it. It has no goal other than to gorge on something or other - whether veiwing or eating or whatever.
Semantics. The intent of the post is still appreciated! YAM xx
As you mentioned, I am always interested in the intent of a talk. The thoughts are that of the esteemed speaker at the webinar which I have faithfully reproduced. I found no ambiguity in what she wants to convey.
ReplyDeleteHappiness is doing something when you have a choice to do nothing. True.
ReplyDeleteEqually true though - happy people find joy in whatever they have to do; whatever they do.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the subject Padmini!
ReplyDeleteSaid right. Do the 'managers' (of India) understand it ?
ReplyDeleteActually it is not only in India but the western business model which is also adopted by India, is way behind the latest research on what motivates employees. Most of the companies still believe and practice the 'carrot and stick' method. You may like to google the "Daniel Pink' study mentioned in the poem for more on the subject.
ReplyDelete🍓🍒🍇🍉🍎If you learn to conquer yourself, you can have everything under your control as stated by Swami Vivekananda. This is true in corporate culture as well. Assimilation of ideas convey the core intent of the topic.Good one.🍓🍒🍑🍋🍊
